It started with a note from cousin Dave who said that now that his dad (Uncle Ed) had passed away he was feeling totally out of connection with the Midwest family. Dave lives in Arizona. He went on to share that although Nolan’s accident was a not good thing, he appreciated hearing about the family. Humbly I say, he also enjoyed my writing.
I shared Dave’s note with my sister Cathy and as all instigative little sisters, younger anyway will do, she suggested that I should put a blog up or something like a blog??? that would allow family members to post updates.
First of all I am not a computer guy, however I guess anyone can come up with a blog of some sort with the help of a ten year old. I just need to find one. My grandson is only six months old. Well this idea bounced back and forth for a week or two with me trying to get Cathy to do the blog thing, and I even tried to push it off on Dave. No luck.
Next came a note from Cousin Iris with a couple of pix from the 1989 50th Anniversary of Uncle Walt and Aunt Vi. Cousin Paul had come across the photos and sent them up the chain. I since learned from cousin Andria that the pictures were actually taken at her parents 50th anniversary part at the Golden Duck in Downers Grove.
I am beginning to think (scary thought) that this blog thing might be worth a try. A divine intervention type of thing might be happening. I know that there are hundreds of old “Radio Grove” stories out there as well as current events that curious family members would be delighted to learn. Delighted?? Well, interested maybe. Bottom line, if I have some interest from a few family members I will attempt this. My learning curve could be challenging however let me know if I should be encouraged to do this.
